Hi..
Is mild steel ok for fabricating new  3CL upper shock mounts or do I need a higher spec steel. ?
I have a piece of 6mm steel ( same  thickness as the originals )which was formerly the mount platform  for the motor and compressor on a commercial size 30yr old Dayton (  USA built) air compressor which I was thinking of using but would hate to get such a  critical piece wrong.
Any frame builders or metallurgists out there to advise.
Thanks
Paul

No need to worry at all about steel and welding for our old Lavs - the SF is basically water pipe and can handle anything you throw at it with a stick welder!!

Laying the shocks fwd is a winner. Love it on my SF.
