Mirage TS chain question

Vince I would love to and without being rude somebody needs to clear the
fog of bullshit that has become "chain".

With OZ the majority of chains come from Asia and for bikes in particular heavy
duty is the buzz word for no other reason than that is what is available.

Fine for modern machines, although my Bandit has standard iwis non O ring, but
on classics it is for the most part unsuitable. Take Commandos as a point. These
had had standard Renold 10B-1 (110056) which is a "narrow" 5/8. Using "heavy duty
the chain fouls guards etc and a 530 ring plain wont fit, hence owners going the 520
route. The biggest problem is that many Brit machines use a crank link which just
is not available for modern chains.

I would love to give a talk as I would also like to do in USA where they have the same
problem. However my bank account would not look very good after and there would
be no way to cover the costs by sales, as I can in UK and Europe.

I have made the suggestion that if several clubs chipped in I could a series of talks to
clubs both in OZ and USA but to date nobody has come on board. I would happily
set up dealers in both countries as it is clear there is a massive problem with old
classics but I dont have the money to fund it.

In OZ Red stocks primaries and cams but not the rear although I have just sent
Carberry some iwis as he is having issues with chains he gets over there.

I also know from discussions on this forum and others that me speaking my mind
can get me into trouble with some folks, but I just let my 40 years in the trade
tell the story.

Come on guys ahve a whip round and get this fat old guy over there.

Andy
