Mirage Wiring Query

Hello, I have searched through the Forum to try to find a wiring diagram for my 81 series 1 Mirage with CDI ignition. I have both the Green Book and Laverda workshop manual but neither has the one I require.

My loom has a relay on the rear mudguard that at present is wired as an On/Off switch that is operated by the ignition switch earthing the relay when turned on. This presumably was done to reduce the loading on the ignition switch.

However all the 'parking light' capability has been removed and the pilot light and instruments etc are connected to the main power circuits. The third wire has even been removed from the ignition switch.

Does anyone have a diagram for how this loom should be connected? Or how the pilot light etc should work.

                          Thanks    Andy

Hi Andy - The CDI system was discontinued in 1978 - the early CDI's had a small realay that "broke" the red charging wire from the the pulse coil. The green Book does have a diagram for that - but not sure yours is what you think it is - Regards - Phil

Andy, the 81 triples had BTZ ignition, not CDI.
The wiring looms are a bit different.
Can you confirm it's an 81 and/or it has CDI before we go further?
CDI was phased out around 1978.

Relay bolted to the rear mudguard under the seat usually controls the high beam but thought that was only for BTZ looms????

Sounds like it has been rewired way differently to standard.
Wolfgang has repro looms for CDI and BTZ systems. Maybe best start there.

It is the daytime running light relay, fed from the brown wire from the ignition light switch (the same wire that powers up the parking lights) Think it was fitted to satisfy some sort of legal requirement. Would not worry about it if everything else is working.
