Whilst fitting a new rear sprocket last week or so, I was not happy with the strange slot headed screws used on the sprocket so I checked manuals, online et all. Details & images were a bit too fine to confirm they were correct so I made some allen heads up to replace them with.
I had me a brew and realised the locking tabs cannot function with that setup! ??? Established comms with Grant D who confirmed they were incorrect and should be 10mm screws only, with threads in the cush drive hub, he also supplied a reworked, re painted hub the Top Bloke.
  Monkeys eh?

Hi Bigfeesh,

be carefull!

After a long run last year, I inspected the rear sprocket on my RGS/SFC and one bolt was missing, and the other three were loose as well including the sprocket. All thread was stripped in the sprocket carrier as well as the bolts and holes in the sprocket oval... to the extend that I didn't even think of using inserts in the carrier.

Those were original bolts fixed with locking tabs.

I think the previous owner highly overdid it with the torque on the bolts.

I just received a sprocket carrier and will apply locktite, recommended torque and new locking tabs.

Stay safe,
Jeroen

Yep, loctite and new 8.8 bolts will be used after I replace the bearings, it was the fact that someone manufactured those slot head bolts that amazed me! Why bother? I might get the old hub flood welded and redrilled, when I dont have a garage full of sick bikes that is!

The old bolts are not plated and look homemade as regards to a "home" lathe was used to manufacture them the slots are pretty rough too. No matter they are destined as fishing weights now!
