Montjuic brakes

Hi Folks,
Just got my Montjuic delivered and very excited, although she needs some love.
I was surprised how "wooden" the front brake lever feels, is this normal or does system need a strip and rebuild?
Where do people recommend buying seal kits?
Many thanks Ian

That’s fairly normal if you have the original set up. Depending on whether you want to stay as original as possible there are any plenty of options to improve the braking and the feel. Since Ducatipaddy exited the scene I’m not sure who the recommended supplier has become. However, Gutsibits might be worth a try as I think the V50 used the same brakes.

Thank you
As an alternative to the PS15 master cylinder, you can use a PS13 from a Moto Guzzi with the rectangular reservoir.
Be aware Brembo are now restricting the sale of service kits/parts, forcing you to buy complete units, so if the bike is gonna be a "keeper", consider buying spare sets while they're still available.

Great info thank you.
My big watch out is bleed nipples on front calipers missing and just allen bolts. If nipples previously snapped off and drilled out nipple seat may be damaged. Repair kits require m10 or 1/8bsp hole and dont think there is enough meat. Might get away converting to trapped ball bearing seal?
Thanks for all the great info

The 500s used PS13 M/Cs in conjuntion with P05 calipers in stock configuration. Totally adequate for the vehicle weight and most applications.

Brembo systems always benefit from fresh seals throughout.

I take it your referring to PS13 with coffin reservoir being fitted to Moto Guzzi V50s ??
Not seen one fitted as standard to Lav 500, only as an upgrade modification. Something recommended to me by Ducati Paddy .
But please correct me if I'm wrong, just going by what I've only ever seen for myself, or what's in Lav 500 parts info.

Why don't you send calipers out to be professionally restored/rebuilt ??
It might add a few quid to your budget, but at least it's in their hands, not yours, & they've got all the kit you need !!

No. Standard good ol' round reservoir PS13.

Fitted to the earliest little Guzzis, V35, etc, Laverda 350, Ducati Pantah and their stillborn flop parallel twin along with lots of others together with F05 calipers.

The later rectangular PS13 can indeed be seen as an upgrade, the revised actuation does away with a lot of friction at the lever.
