Monty Compression

I have just compression tested my monty engine prior to installation with a spare battery but without carbs and exhausts.
I only managed to get 50psi on the test gauge but there are new rings and valves fitted and the head pulled a good pressure test
on the serdi when the valves were done. Is this normal!!

sounds odd, Maxene's Monty is 165 psi on both cylinders

Hi Glenn -If it's only turning over slowly - the high overlap can make it read lower than a std Alpino - check out Cams comment too - Regards - Phil

Do a propper cylinder leakage test,  then you know for 100% and no guesswork.

I believe that Phil might be correct as both cylinders are showing about the same so I will conduct a leak down test instead.
