Monty monkey metal

Just cleaning up bits of Monty in preparation for it's Christmas present and wondered if anyone knew what the exhaust clamps are made of.
They are not showing any sign of corrosion and only ever appear a mid grey even if you scratch the surface.
They are only 70g each.

They're made from the souls of defeated Japanese bikes.
You're welcome.

If they're the same as the ones on the triples, they're soft aluminium alloy that bends if you over-tighten them. Or maybe they soften when hot and bend themselves. The ones that came with my RGS engine were curled like potato chips. I heated them up and bashed them flat again without doing them any apparent harm.
The billet CNC Redax ones seem to be a lot stronger and they look trick. Available from Keith in your neck of the woods http://www.laverdascozia.co.uk/parts/redax.html
Dunno whether they fit the Monty though.

they need modifying to accept the Monty half rings if the Monty has a standard system
not difficult, straight forward machine operation, just need a small fixture to hold them in the lathe

That looks like an SF part to me that need layers of crushed Hollow Copper Doughnut Rings to seal but I believe Grant is correct saying:

I did have a set of Reds but too angular for me as i m all about curves  :D, very well made don t get me wrong, just not my style.

I'm quite happy with them the way they are.
They are still flat and will do the job.
I suppose it could be the heat cycling from the cherry red exhausts that gives them a different appearance.
