Had the very same issue about 5k west of Yalata roadhouse on the Nullarbor in about 1977 - colleague at the bike shop I was working at did a nasty job with a 3 phase hydraulic press on my perfectly good SF crank. Luckily I was riding with Lee and we could continue 2-up to Perth.

Good to get the various parts of the 915-917 history in order.

I reckon an article on the Mule would go down very nicely!

So it would appear they only printed 200 copies to start with, which to me indicates they thought selling 1000 copies was a touch optimistic, and they were caught out by it being a bit more popular than they thought it would be. However , I suspect selling the last 200 will be a bit harder than the first 200.

Just commercial tactics to increase desirability.
Like numbered copies.

I was there in March 2006 when Sir Al spent the day testing Steve's orange twin racer, and the recently-restored genuine SFC previously owned by Chris Cutler and Steve. Sir Al looked like he enjoyed his time there.

Personally I wouldn`t worry if it was one of two hundred , one of one thousand , or if they churned them out like copies of the Daily Express ........ A nice book on Laverdas is a nice thing to have regardless ........

I just like books , which along with magazines are more and more becoming something of an endangered species nowadays , what with online articles and e-books and other suchlike electronic fodder to satisfy those soulless morons with a disposable mindset and attention span of a goldfish who are all too typical of many of those who make up much of society today ............

( Sorry , started to get a little carried away there , I`m ok again now ... ) .............


I had a un- numbered copy of the Borghesi book ..........
It was a beautiful thing to behold ........ apparently info contained could be contested , but that didn`t worry me ....... I don`t necessarily believe everything I read anyhow ..... and it was in Italian , so that had me sitting on the sidelines in any case ....... I just liked looking at the pictures .... especially the double spread colour side views ..... ( worth a thousand words and all that ) ..... and admiring the way it had been put together ..........


Also had a Ducati 851 onward book in similar full colour large format with giant pictures of a fly splattered Tricolore .... looking at it you could almost hear it clicking as it cooled down .......... Wish I`d kept that ...........
