Motorcycles Are Banned From The Pyrenees National Park

Blanket ban seems unreasonable. Fair enough going after individual unreasonably loud vehicles but why discriminate against everyone? I did an off-road ride once with 30-plus bikes but only one out of that bunch had a stupid offensively loud bike and was told exactly that, annoying everybody there.

I worry it may cause a cascade of similar restrictions around Europe. Picos, Alps, et al.

I agree, in these high-tech days, a sound sensor could highlight, record and prosecute riders of 'louded-up' bikes. But beware the Monty/Jota rider!

Heard of similar bans over the years in Germany and France plus some communities in the USA. Dont remember the specifics but THEY love targeting us in general.

I recall years ago when Northampton town council in the UK banned motorcycle parking on the public streets where my friends lived.
They lived in a terrace house with no front yard so their bikes had to be parked up the lane behind.

Everything I ever enjoyed doing has been met with petty disapproval by people who have not even been impacted by the activity.

I"d like to see a map covered by the ban, is this proposed or in place ?,It looks like the BFN tour wouldn't be allowed now, ,world gets smaller by the day. Looks like I"d get around it with the 1966 TR4A though;)

Back in the day every squid on a Ninja would chuck the stock exhaust in favor of a Kerker four into one pipe. Nowadays it’s mostly the geriatric Harley crowd: “loud pipes save lives” dontcha know…..l

Motorcycles attract a lot of arseholes with psychological problems, sporty type cars do the same.
Arseholes are like magnets, they attract each other and you end up with large groups of arseholes.

There are plenty of nice twisty roads about, but some of them must be magnetic, they're full of arseholes whilst others are empty. The Stelvio is a perfect example. Heavy traffic but plenty of empty mountain passes not far away.

Even though I put a Dunstall 4/1 on my Honda 4 and a Marving on my 3CL, when I was young, I had psychological problems needing noise as a way of affirming myself, I now advocate the ban of loud after market exhausts which could be sanctioned by the confiscation of the motorcycle. I know a few roads on the coast around here where I'd be frightened of ending up with a two wheeled arsehole in my windscreen when I went out shopping in the car. Not to mention driving the kids to school.

I wonder what I will say to the police if I am stopped on my 860 with Contis. I know it is loud but the sound is intoxicating. Same with aftermarket Norton Commando Interstate pipes. They look so sedate but are pretty loud. I’m torn.

In Germany I'm only aware of bans during weekends or legal holidays on certain roads.
Former hill climb racetrack at my village is a road off limits to bikes during these periods.
Other roads are banned from spring to fall during weekends and legal holidays.
As stated before, individual a-holes are to blame for various reasons.
If you ride a bicycle you can anywhere the f... you want in Germany, nobody cares.

I have no issues with a sweet-sounding bike. Still, there is a big difference between my pleasant sounding 3c with big bore headers and the rest Jotaised that I chose not to rev hard early in the morning or passing through towns and what scared me to death entering The Eastern Distributor tunnel a couple of months back. 2 V Rod Harlys that sounded like Artillery being constantly fired deliberately offensive. BTW Contis sound great, Those Gianele 2 into 1 sounded horrible.

When you want to enjoy your garden when the weather's fine and there's 3000 motorcycles going by on the road at the bottom of your garden every Saturday and every Sunday, you start wishing you had a shotgun.

The problem is bikes being singled out though they do attract a lot of arseholes. I see no problem with some areas being forbidden to all motor traffic.
Man doesn't have to transform the whole planet into some sort of Disneyland.

I know the area of the Pyrenees outlined on the map reasonably well. It looks like the roads affected are all cup de sacs of a type most road bikes would not be using. I suspect the authorities are chasing the off road bikes. Having said that, some of the ‘famous’ roads in that area see trains of noisy bikes riding like eejits of a sunny day.

How much is membership to the Cranky Old Cnts Club? Asking for a friend that is interested in joining. He has a few bikes that are a bit
Loud but he rides them pretty quietly, most of the time anyway….
