mounting engine

Ok There are 2 Laverda 750 engines. 15538 Gt engine comes off to be rebuilt. 17580 Sf goes on . 32 yrs ago I just used a floor jack. So balance should be good w/ starter, generator & carbs off?

The consequences if it overbalances and smashes onto the floor are pretty grim. I would have some form of security to prevent that. As in the other recent thread, a roller trolley with the engine supported on blocks of wood, lower rear engine mounts out last and in first is an often used technique. A jack to lower and raise it from/to the main frame can make it easy.

I have set the engine on wooden blocks and then lowered the frame onto the engine with a strap from a small hoist on the ceiling (an electric winch bolted to the ceiling) and that worked just fine. Very little risk of the engine falling over.

Mind you ...... when I think of mounting and engine ...... this is more what I have in mind.
