Mounting location for a Shindegen FH020AA on an RGS - advice needed.

I need to replace my original voltage regulator on my RGS. I'm looking at buying a new Shindegen FH020AA. I made a mock-up out of apiece of wood cut to the size of the FH020AA.

It's a bit bigger in size than the original regulator. I have a Witt box mounted on the right side, on the outside of the frame. The new regulator won't fit where the old one was or anywhere on that side even if move the Witt box a bit. Also it does not fit on the left side next to the battery, behind the side cover...its to thick to get the side cover back on.

It looks like it should fit either:
- between the battery and inside of the rear fender, under the starter solenoid, mounted vertically
- in front of the battery mounted vertically
- under the airbox mounted horizontally
- in the front fairing next to the headlight

In all of the above I would have to make a mounting bracket, and find a way to attach it to the frame.

Anyone fit this regulator to an RGS?
Anyone fit an older model Shindegen(are they smaller?) to an RGS?

Thanks.

Nice choice the FH series RR, though if your concerned about real estate for mounting, the older SH530 ( or later model type ) will be more conducive. However these are of an age closer to a nursing home than a 2025 lifestyle resort as in the FH.

Perhaps you can entertain a mount FH under the battery tray, where the original "earth" connection used to live with battery acid and dissolving copper/lugs once brought "joy to RGS owners. Flooded cell batteries now not best option, under the tray has viability. Actual electrical connection protected as best practice. HTH j

I like that, nice job on the mounting plate. I too use an Odyssey 680. I have had an Odyssey for so long I forgot it was slimmer. Mine has been centered in the battery tray so I'll slip it to the rear of the battery tray and see what room that gives me.
