Mounting the Ignitech black box on an RGS

I'm in the throes of fitting an Ignitech to the RGS.
Question for those who have already done this:  Where did you mount the black box?

Options I've thought of include:

(1) On a plate/platform in the tool tray area.      Unfortunately I don't have an RGS tray, and fabricating and fitting such a plate is not as straightforward as it was on the 180's.

(2) On a vertically mounted plate fitted to the frame behind the left (primary) side cover.

(3) On the existing bracket that on which the three existing ignition boxes are mounted, this behind the right side cover.  However, I'm a bit concerned about debris thrown up by the drive chain, and also heat dissapated by the voltage regulator, which is mounted to the existing bracket.

I've previously always mounted the black boxes placed flat and horizontally.  Would it be OK to mount them vertically and, if so, should the connector face down or up?  Down seems safer, as any water or other spillage would have less chance causing problems with the connections.

Any pics of what you've done would also be useful.  Anyone have a spare RGS tool tray?

This where I've mounted my DMC black box, not sure how the Ignitech box differs but I haven't had any problems concerning throw-off from the chain or heat related problems from the regulator.
 
Not the best photo taken part way through the fabrication, but I made up a shallow U shaped bracket to pick up on the existing ears that fix the BTZ boxes.  I needed to cut the longer ear down to clear it. Ignitech is held with velcro and tie wraps for security.

I fit the Ignitech box with its connector facing forward to avoid it being covered in spray from back wheel or collecting water from above.  Using dielectric grease is a good idea too. 

If you've got welding gear, then you could do a much neater job without using nuts and bolts. Keith Nairn's DMC modded electrics plate shows what's possible!

I cable tied the Ignitech loom to a starter relay cable and sat the box against the rear guard, under the starter relay. I thought 'That'll do for now'. Three years later, it is still like that. The bit of foam packing is long gone.

Thanks to all for your examples and info on how you've fitted the ignition black box.
Fitting it in the same area as the original ignition boxes seems like a good idea, and that's what I'll do.

I have borrowed an tool tray from a local RGS owner and will have a copy made in fibre glass.
If the quality of the copy is acceptable, then I may have a few more made and offer them for sale.
Sure is a strange looking tray, nothing remotely like the series 1 trays.
And not really suitable for placement of the black box.
