Evening All,

I have decided to have the chrome bits on my 75 SF2 re chromed. Took them along to our local plater, who posed two questions, which I'm hoping someone in this fantastic pool of knowledge will have answers for.

1. Both mufflers have indentations, deeper on the right than on the left, but indentations nonetheless. They don't look like factory made, but I still have to ask. If not put there by the factory, they can be filled and chromed over.

2. Does anyone know if there is anything behind the perforated baffle plates in the mufflers. The plater person has warned that if they are stuffed full of fibreglass, he will not be able to clean them sufficiently to put in his chrome bath, and therefore not possible to re chrome.

Help!!!

Regards

Chris

There is nothing but air around the perforated tubes (they are not baffle plates).
Pretty sure there were never any indents in the outer cones. Put in a pic.
These mufflers usually rust from the inside out. The bath pre chroming might just be the last straw.
There are excellent SS copies on the market.

Thanks Tippie, We'll give it a go and see what happens.
