My choke plungers have nipples.

My 78 Dellorto equipped triple has been running rich, so I pulled the choke plungers, all 3 of them look the same, see the first photo. I have 3 other spare plungers (used) second photo that I have had for many years. My question is this, are they supposed to have rubbers worn into nipples, or should they be as flat as possible? Thanks for any answers, cheers Dave

You can turn them over if you are careful getting them out but if they have gone hard enough to form a nipple they are probably going to break when you try and get them out or just be too hard to seal once turned over.
any Dellorto supplier will keep them so try local first.

Oooo, they look excitable........been doing some tweaking there Dave :p

agree with paul, they are bound to deform a little, not realy a problem, but they must close off, not something that is easy to check, since you need the suction of a running engine for testing pruposes, can't realy use a vacuum brake bleeder, nowhere to attach it to on the fuel side or throat side. Not dear from Scooter racing shops (sorry Paddy) so if in doubt, get the wallet out.
CLEM

You might struggle to find a scooter that uses this choke piston Clem.
I did buy a small sheet of nitrile and a hollow punch but TBH its just not worth messing about for a £4.50 item.
