A bit of a rabbit hole, but I have seen some chrome ND backing plates that appear identical to the ones on my '74 3C. I figured they can't be unique to one make, so I tried a Google reverse image search and found some close hits. The part could be Suzuki GT750, PN 34960-31000/12 or 34970-31000/12 for the last year - the latter may be the one that matches, but I can't verify (yet) because PNs aren't always known/listed on eBay.
There are others on eBay that I found with the above PN or GT750 keyword that look close, but not exact like the ones I've attached. The cutout is the same - but the center has a more pronounced 'crown'.
These are the ones that look just like mine. The 'tachometer' listing is identical to my speedometer plate. This seller also has the tachometer in another listing, which is identical to my tacho. As best I can tell from a pic. They don't look better than mine, so I'll keep searching. Maybe this helps someone.
