Hi, going to through my boxes of LAVERDA parts I noticed this ND rev counter with "OIL" instead of "GEN" control light. My guess is that the rev counter on the 750 SF is different from that of the 1000/1200. Can anybody confirm this. Unfortunately I don't have a 750 SF ...
Ciao, Gert

Well, yes and no.
As usual, it's a case of evolution. Not linked with model, leave that to Honda, but with supplies.
My 74 3C has a rev counter with oil light.
My 73 SF2 has a gen light.

its a bit odd, I have seen that gen light labelled as an oil light and on 750's it works, on triples of an early age it does not (CDI) later BTZ types it could work, but not always enabled.
doubly strange as the faces are clearly Laverda specific due to the logo, and lets not mention the red zone, a triple with an oil pressure switch does exist, it is a drummer, memory going a bit weak now, but it was owned for a long time by Ralph at Motalia and then sold on a few times, I think it ended up in Norway, the pressure switch and its pipwork look to have been factory, it had casting changes, so at least one triple had this, maybe it was a disaster, due to the very low oil pressure but moto Laverda had already bought hundreds of clocks, that might explain the red zone as well, but I wasnt going to mention it was I?
the number of that bike is 1097, anyone know of it????? was it Norway.

That redline on a twin can only be interpreted as meaning 6 1/2 thou is your maximum cruising revs! And even then if your motor is properly dialled in you can ignore that!
