need help from the UK guys

Hi all,

a friend of me wants to buy some special welding parts.
But the company in UK dont wants to sell it to Germany.
So if anyone can help it will be great.
The part is:
SIF Bronze no. 101, diameter 1,5 mm, length 1000 mm
the company is.

Not a problem for me to buy the welding rods for your friend. Problem will be successfully sending them to Germany. There may be fees for VAT, customs and handling.

I've just hit this problem myself, despite saying that the item was being returned for repair. It is presently stuck with the courier in Germany and has been there for a week.

Oh, and the courier cost will not be cheap either... cost has increased after Brexit
 
It's called Customs Duty and Brokerage Fee's, Canadians have been plagued with this issue for decades when purchasing items from the United States - That's what BREXIT gave you - Name it Nationalism or Protectionism - Whatever ;o(

A lot of Vendors will refuse to ship to a Foreign Country rather then be bothered to put up with the costs and paper work. If the item is shipped with a Tracking # - You should be able to see that your item is held up in Customs and waiting the Buyer to pay Duty and Brokerage Fees.

It appears the UK is officially out of the European Trade Union and Importing & Exporting is becoming expensive. Seems to me Big Multi-National Collaborate Co's do not suffer much - It's us lowly Tax Payers that pay for it ;o(

Definitely politics at play - I've purchased bicycle wheels from Chain Reaction in the UK and had them delivered (free shipping!!) to Oz in less than a week. Also a complete clutch and flywheel kit for a Skoda (what? 25kg?) from the UK, free shipping, arrived within 2 weeks. Pre covid, but still highlights the stupidity of the UK-Euro issue. We are being scammed.
 
I'm surprised your friend can't source an equivalent rod in Germany. 101 is a basic manganese bronze rod, I use an Australian made equivalent which is commonly available at this end of the world. I'm not sure where Messer are based but Tennant in Herne, Germany should surely carry an equivalent rod.
10 kilos would see out my fabrication plans for the rest of my life....
