Need some help around the timing chain adjuster

Hello.

Can you tell me how to adjust the timing chain adjuster.

The only thing that I found was this picture attached.

How do I set the right tension of the chain with the adjuster.

The way I do mine ... easiest with plugs out, on the cam chain tensioner, undo the lock nut, loosen the pinch bolt that holds the plunger and rotate the motor forward until you feel the plunger is in as far as it will go, stop rotating, tighten the pinch bolt and the locknut. Job done. Don't put pressure on the plunger by pushing it in.

Have you got a copy of the owner's manual? They are VERY useful for this sort of thing.
 
While you’re at it, remove the housing to examine the nylon wheel for wear and lube the plunger so it moves freely. The gasket will stay intact as long as it wasn’t goobered up w sealant.

OK. I will inspect the nylon wheel and lube the plunger.

But my question is how to tension/adjust the chain tensioner.

Do I simpley put it in and move it to the chain and when I feel a little resistance then I lock the bolt in that position?

As described above by piranha-bro2. Just loosen the pinch bolt of the plunger and rotate the engine. You will see, that the plunger will move a little in and out while rotating the engine by hand. Just tighten the pinch bolt of the plunger when it is as far in as it will go with it's spring pressure.
 
Just as important as the condition of the tensioner wheel is the condition of the rubber damping block between plunger and tensioner arm. This is the component that actually allows the tensioning wheel to keep the chain slightly pressured. These blocks are usually rock-hard and often on the verge of splitting or crumbling and therefore can no longer do their job properly.

Hi.

Any idea where to buy the whell spaner marked red in attached photo? JLO has the black rubber but dobt have the spaner whell. Or has someone a used one to sell?
Mine os not so bad but it is used and uneven on the surface.
