Neutral switch

What’s wrong with yours? Is it not working, leaking oil or you are missing one? Reason I ask is they are a pretty simple device and oddly enough not that prone to failure. Plenty on here can guide you through the various checks to determine what’s failed. Could simply be a wiring fault. If it’s an oil leaking issue that is also repairable. These switches are not easy to come by and generally expensive when you find a new one😢

If there is one thing I could not do without its a functioning neutral light, Easing out the clutch with fingers crossed, sounds hard, hoping it doesn't creep forward, especially on a bike that's hard to get neutral or has a hard clutch pull sounds like a massive pain in the arse. Sure I wouldn't be splitting the cases to only fix that but I would be trying the easy fixes for sure.

Managed to survive without one since about 1978! You develop the right 'touch' in the right foot. If the clutch is binding-dragging badly, forget it.

The neutral light isn’t always right… Probably just an adjustment thing but I’ve learnt not to trust them. It’s nice to have but easy enough to do without.

As I don't have a red ignition light the neutral light tells me my ignition is on. The ignition switch is down by the engine breather on the Motodd.
But as a neutral light I don't really need it.

I have never had a working neutral light on my SF2 and it's been on the road since 92.
The 3C functioned okay, as does the S.
The SFC of course doesn't even have a speedo. Keeps me alert counting the kilometres so as to know when to fill up.

Paul,
Sigma MC 10, around € 25,00, will tell you when to fill up.
Easy to install, no changes on your SFC, reliable and accurate.

Aren't we lucky to have bikes that can function without a neutral "sensor". I bet any modern data dependent wonder-bike would refuse to even wake up if it wasn´t working.
