Welcome!
Don't hesitate to upgrade the ignition from original, it'll improve performance and rideability regardless of how you use the bike. Definitely well worth it.
The Redax ignition isn't your only option but is very highly regarded, as is Red himself and Keith Nairn.
I'm not sure, but it may also include an alternator upgrade?

An ignition and charging system upgrade made out of rocks and sticks is better than what Laverda fitted to the bike.

What you have now is a charging system that won't run the lights and charge the battery unless you are always riding fast and an ignition with a advance curve that goes from not enough advance to too much advance at low RPM's.

Replacing the ignition on a series 1 triple is always the first thing that should be done to the bike.

Get the REDAX system, you will not be disappointed.

dont fit any aftermarket ignition unyil you have found out why your Laverda "can be temperamental sometimes" you might find you still have the problem afterwards.

Join the ILOC and you can hire a puller for the original Bosch alternator. You'll only need it once to fit the Redax kit, so no point buying one ;)
It's well worth replacing the alternator oil seal at the same time, as recommended in the very detailed Redax instructions.

And using a 5mm seal rather than the 7mm as recommended by Red.
