Nology coils

Hi all, quick question, which nology coils are suitable for a SF1 and Witt ignition? (individual coils). Also best place sourced or other bikes they may be used on so I can search for them. Thank you and stay safe.
Regards,
Tyrone.

PFC-30S - 3.0 Ohm, Single Outlet , Part-No. 152 051 300 for a DMC with standard software. For coils with lower resistance there seems to be versions of the DMC with special software installed available, but guess that's rather the exception than the rule, would be probably noted somewhere on the black box sticker then.
For a supplier in your part of the world you might check out the Nology website: https://www.nology.com/buy.html

Personally I'm not aware of them being used as OEM part at all, but others might know better.

Regards,
Stefan

They're made by PVL and you may find more success looking under that name in this part of the world.
So look for (Hinckley) Triumph triples - 900 Speedmaster, America, Thunderbird, Thunderbird Sport, Adventurer and Legend. Also Hinckley carburetor models - 750/900 Trident, 900 Daytona, 750/900 Speed Triple, 900 Sprint, 900 Tiger & Scrambler.
All sorts of copies out there and OE is pricey. I use TEK KP03 with good results

Most PVL coils fitted to Triumphs are low-resistance, around 1.5 Ohm primary.  Will quickly fry the DMC...

Working nicely in my GTL. :D

Not to mention that most (if not all) of the Hinkley Triumphs use coil over plug setup.

I think that's the FI triples, Cam.  Twins still use "regular" coils as far as I can see.

Herr Witt himself used
- PVL 355100 single coil (primary 1,1 Ohm, secondary 8,17 kOhm), and,
- PVL 356100 double coil (primary 1,1 Ohm, secondary 7,66 kOhm) on my 3c.

So would it be correct in assuming that two of the single ones would be the choice for a SF?

Cheers
Jo

Thanks for all the replies lads but getting a little confused as to what is safe to use with the Witt Ignition? Can someone clarify please as don't want to order something that I should not use. Thank you all. 👍

"You should check the coil's primary winding resistance. With the regular DMC/2 it should be within 3.0-4.8 Ohms".

Info from the mouth of Uve himself.

No.  He re-programmed your DMC unit to suit.  Uwe and I discussed your bike recently... :D

The "normal" 750 DMC utilises a wasted spark and can be used with either 2 singles, or a double coil.  With the double, only 1 coil drive channel is required, the second can be left blank (my GTL ran like this the past 25 years).    These "normal" units require coils with a primary resistance of around 3-4 Ohms, otherwise they will fry themselves.

Low-resistance coils can be wired in series to attain the necessary resistance, I use this set-up to drive 3 double coils through a normal DMC on my 3C with twin-spark head.  The unit does not have enough umph to power two 3-Ohm coils on 1 channel alone. ::)  The 3C is getting a revised version shortly, hoping to do away with the cumbersome jap coils I'm now using and switch to the compact PVL type.

Hi Tyrone,
just follow my initial advice and all will be good.

Sorry, the last thing I wanted was to add further confusion! I had no clue that Uwe modified the software of my particular 3c DMC to suit the coils ...
