I have been watching a lot of these two guys lately, the spider bite kept me off my feet, he does some pretty cool stuff, and before bikes, was a guru of mountain bike frame design and building. His Excelsior engine design and story is pretty cool.

Im not a truck guy , maybe I am now, this guy impresses me, especially before he had his shed built, working outside in -15 temps Alberta on saturday mornings, playing with his trucks, not so much him doing really technical things, he's an average skilled joe, but has grit at getting his trucks back on the road. Makes bike collecting seem much more sensible

 
I know Paul Brodie. The guy is a master! Absolute genius.

He built an Excelsior board track racer because none survived from the originals. He had no plans or blueprints so he found as many photos as he could and scaled all the parts from the photos. Built the bike almost entirely by himself ....... with some crank and cam work done by some other local wizards,

This is what he came up with ....

Then he decided that the motor could make a lot more power but it would need some more modern trappings to keep it together ....... so he built a second motor and tweaked it (a lot) and then built this chassis so that it could go racing!

Yup, he sure is a genius, and so unassuming, I love the Carb he designed and built for the Excelsior. His channel is pretty damn good, I wish I had a 10th of his skill
 
Paul got one of my Aermacchi frames when he was into those. His van and bikes were stolen at an overnight stop coming back from a meeting in the US. Hence the move into replica building.
I got an aluminium gearshift linkage piece off him with an internal spline. Turned out he was cutting them with a single point tool - by hand.
Told him how to turn an old shift shaft into a broach.

Sounds like Paul. Always learning! He was very good friends with another olf friend (passed away now) who built Vincent parts. The two would disapear into their own world talking about the things they were making!

He's building another Aermacchi. Making lots of parts as usual.

I couldnt help myself, this just arrived in the post today ! Now off to find a mill .........
