Back in the early 70's, I Heli-Skiid in BC on Mt Cascade Baniff doing the Angel Face with 3 other younger skiers whom where on the Canadian National Ski Team. I was 22 or 3 with a 16m Bolex to record the event: Unfortunately it didn't work that all well for me - I literally fell a 1/4 mile bouncing off the mountain with an avalanche behind me - Cause of a BROKEN Look Nevada Heel Mount.

Lucky I survived without a scratch and the whole Lodge, whom witnessed the spectacle, picked me up then planted me on the Bar and the drinks were FREE - I can't remember the next day or two other then I switched from LOOK to a Marker Rot-a-Mat harness!

I can still hear that WOP-WOP-WOP of the Helo's Blades under a Silent Crystal Rainbow Dome as we dropped into the powder.

Then we realize from all over the world, WTF are we doing here, if not for falling off a mountain.

I was a skier and the BEST Salem from Ontario at the time ;o)

The thing was I never lost my ski's even with that broken heel piece which meant I actually skied it while fighting for my life.

Straight down bouncing off rocks on that mountain for over 1/4 mile with an avalanche of snow behind me - Made me want to believe in GOD or else I was Invincible when I survived.

When the crowd from the Lodge came to me said: "I was beating my ski's to death." Which "In Truth" where to only things that saved me.

210 Castle COMP II's with a LOOK Nevada Harness (Demise) - Love the Castle COMP II Ski but I never used a LOOK harness after that.

Further interest for you skiers I was using Nordica Boots (Not Lange) and Scott poles.

I didn't have the 16m Bolex on me at that time. At 5'11" and 138 lbs the long light weight hi-tension narrow Castle Comp II's worked for me once I got plaining on the powder but if I mounted that 16m Bolex I'd probably choose the slightly heavier, wider and shorter ROSSIGNOL Equipe Ski or perhaps a HEAD GS.

You couldn't beat a ROSSIGNOL Equipe for farting around a practicing but a Castle was designed for Racing and you had better be well practiced and in shape to handle her.
