Oil cooler adaptor measurements (1000/1200)

I need to ascertain the length of the adaptor thread that screws into the crankcase. (This is the adaptor that the oil cooler pipes attach to).
Thanks to an earlier post by Piet I know the thread sizes ('79 series 1) are M12 x1.5 and M14 x1.5

Amazing what goes missing during a strip down and rebuild... albeit with a 25 year interval 🙄😁
 
Years ago, I snapped one and approached a bloke who built Electronic Ignitions for Laverdas for a replacement. And what do we find in his spares but three different-looking crankcase adaptors for oil cooler hoses. Lucked out as one was the same as my btoken one. I forget the details re thread types, but they were visually very different.
 
I found two in some crankcases I had bought where the thread wasn't all the way down to the hex. They don't fit.
I'm not critiquing the above posts, I'm just saying watch out when you buy them.

Bear in mind, Pat, that there should be copper crush washers or Dowty washers between the adaptor and crankcase.
Here’s a set I removed from 120 crankcases last week. I’d hazard a guess that your mate El Bodger hadn’t fitted the sealing washers.

Like I said earlier, we found 3 different types in the pile of spares when I snapped one of mine in half. They take such a big spanner to nip up, and it didnt take much to snap it in 2. It was pretty surprising to see 3 variations out of the small number of spares John had.
