Oil pushish out from engine

When i filled new oil in my engine (jota) and started the bike the oil is pushing out of the engine
Is the oil level to high in the engine and thats why the oil is pushing out or is it som ventilation who is not correct?

It should take approx 3 litres or a bit less as some stayed in the primary and oil cooler, the dipstick should be held plum or vertical and resting in place not screwed in when checking the level. Plus bike on the centre stand. If you have leaky piston rings combustion gasses can end up in the cases and push oil out the breather at high revs. Have you had the bike long, how does it run, any exhaust smoke happening?
 
I had it for about six months and it was ok before oilchange. It runs very well and the smoke from exhaust seems normal.
 
Its coming out from a small hole on the right side of engine just behind the chargingcover.
That is a drain hole for the case cavity behind the cylinder. Did you spill oil while filling? In that case, it would eventually dribble out that hole.

Would be a strange coincidence if the starter motor gasket gave up the moment the oil was changed, the most common source of oil leaks in that area.

If the engine breather were blocked, the engine would run sluggish and oil would come oozing from nearly every gasket.

Ok,
I have solwed the problem. The breather hose was a little bit blocked so now ewerything works correct again. Thanks for your replys.
 
I completely agree with Piet but for the life of me I can not recall that Oil Overfill drain hole on my 70 SFO ;o)

Is it a good or bad idea ? Was that a factory dis-cession option or did all Breganzies have that hole ? I would assume that hole to be an oil spiting crank case breather ? To tell you the truth, I would be tempted to tap an thread that hole and plug it with a bolt. I can't see the factory doing this as oil could easily be dumped onto the rear tier.

I'm for drilling a 1/8th" hole in the bottom of the distributor cap to vent water but an Oil Overfill drain hole ?

I'm not advocating nothing other then I'm curious ;o)

It doesn't go into the crankcase Ron, it just drains (normally water) from the well beneath the starter motor. there is a similar hole in the 750's but it drains into the starter chain area which is in air. The triples sprag clutch runs in oil so they moved the hole to drain into the front sprocket area.
If it's blocked you end up with a nice swimming pool around the starter when washing the bike. Ditto the spark plug wells on the triple.
 
The starter motor on my Jota gave up the ghost a few years ago. When I took it off I found that hole blocked by a little pebble and some black greasy road grime. That may have been what contributed to the starter failure. The starter motor must have taken a bath every time the bike got wet.
 
I once found a spade-like blade gadget that connects to the tacho cable hiding in that cavity around a spark plug hole, I was using compressed air to clear out any crap before pulling a plug and I thought I saw something move. It was wedged in snug forward of the plug but came out with a magnet. Who knows how long it was floating around in there. Very happy it didn't go down a plug hole at some point over the years.
 
On the subject of problem drain holes: My Benelli triple has its airbox on top of the engine just under the front end of the tank. When riding in wet weather, the front tyre can throw water up into that area, which can get sucked into the air intake. So there's a drain hole in the back of the airbox to get rid of any water that finds its way in. Only problem is that the drain dumps water onto the top of the engine. It has stick type coils over the spark plugs, that are recessed into the cylinder head (like many modern bikes). Any water on top of the engine can dribble down into the coil tubes, get into the coils through breather holes in the plastic coil casing, and corrode electrical gubbins inside. Next thing you know, the coils need replacing and they're not cheap.

Bit of a design cock-up in my opinion. A common owner modification is to fit a rubber hose to the airbox drain to re-direct the water where it can't do any harm. Something that should have been done by the factory.

Zane Lavs have much the same problem Cam.

The plugs are recessed deep in the head and the caps have no form of sealing whatsoever. There are also no drains from the plug seats. The caps are obviously watertight enough to enable the bikes to run without issues when the recesses are filled to the brim! But, plugs can corrode to the point that they require 2-3 weeks of soaking in penetrating fluid, even then, some snap off at attempting to loosen. One of many design flaws the bikes are plagued with.
