Oil quantity Marzocchi 38 mm

Hi Experts,
I'm actually re-building my 81 Jota and have the following question: What is the correct oil quantity for the Marzocchi 38 mm front fork. I'm a bit confused because on the Laverdamania Homepage they indicate 300 cm3, the Marzocchi book says 400 cm3 and on Laverda-Paradies i found 240 cm3.
And by the way is SAE 5 the correct viscosity?
Thank you in advance for your advice.

240ml is the factory figure. Some of us prefer to increase on that to reduce the air gap in the fork leg which increases effective spring rate.  Hence the 300ml figure which is closer to my preference.

Use 10W or a mix of 10 and 5.
That though of course is dependent on riding style, single or two up, individual weight.

Quantity is also dependent on your ability to change fork seals.

I just did this on my Jota this year. I startet with 10w 240 ccm wich was by far to less  >:(
After asking around I got the info it would be better to measure the air gap instead the quantity of oil.
So I did and it worked great.
The air gap is 155 mm for me with 86kg,  :D

This appears to be near on an oil thread how many times has this been talked about.
What length Marzochhi's ... so general rule of thumb and its been done to death... 10 oz's of oil 5 to 10 W choose your poison I go for 7 Ipone on Marzochhi's with stock then bleed but pumping around 1/2 dozen times, then set the air gap with spring out to 6 inches.. job done caps on and ride.. never had an issue...  :o :o

Sorry brett can you explain that again?  Half a dozen ounces of inches?  Or is that 6 ounces of inches?  Thank goodness for the french!
So sorry Marty forgot you guy work in that other lingo ... OK so 300ml or CC or what ever you want to call it.. then the air gap is a 150mm or 15cm or so...
7W oil can be made by mixing 5 and 10 together ..
Hope that clears it up ...

50/50 would make it 7.5 W
