Old 750

I also see it at half the price, a lot of items to be refurbished to have a good running bike.
To make it perfect it would need some money and really much time.

That is extremely expensive for a non original old bike.

Maybe not - bike seems to be sold after few hours.

Half price with this parts?

motor                         900
Smith instruments     400
old Bosch headlamp    150
fork                             250
carburators               300
Total                       2000

I prefer "patina"-bikes" which are not 4 times painted, rechromed,..... .

But - "All roads lead to Rome..."  ;-)

Maybe Thomas I was looking at the wrong bike?
Paul

Here it is..... - better it was  :(

When i look e.g. at the tires I think, it would have been a good barnfind for max 4.200 EUR. Maybe you would have got it for 3.900 EUR.

... too expensive, I would say!!!
After the Corona crisis I will have a look at a barn find 750 SF1 - I am courios what the owner will ask for ...
Last year I bought a barn find 1000 3CL/modified/accident for about EUR 500,? delivered to my workshop.
Ciao, Gert

I really like patina on bikes. I am currently restoring a 100 Sport / 1958. It has a wonderful patina and I will keep it. But patina comes from using a motorcycle, not from miserable storage or treatment.

Right, 56.027 counted km at this bike should be enaugh usage to get a nice Patina.

E.g. my American Eagle never saw soap, a steel brush, polishing or painting after i saved her out of a barn in Oregon.
Since the Eagle is driven in the rain, it is only treated with petroleum spray once a year to avoid oxidation of the aluminum.

You cannot buy real patina afterwards.

Must have missed that phase Pat, did I blink?  :-* :P :D
You were right about my 3C you rewired Grant there is very little on that bike that isn't shagged out. I've rectified most of it but today I thought I'd do the carbs. Knackered would be too polite a description. You did mention them  ;)

Ok Thomas, that's not the bike I saw, but like Gert, I consider it very expensive.
A mix of parts so won't interest a ........ collector. Needs buckets of cash thrown at it to make it useable, let alone restored.

As a parts bike, at that price, you'll still be selling individual parts in 5 years time, will not have recouped your investment, and some parts just never sell.
You can't even make scaffolding with 750 frames, they're too heavy.

If you take your time, you can find a nice, complete, pretty original GT, ready to use for ?5000.

Was that American Eagle the one at Breganze near the camping?

I think so, each year my sleeping place is upstairs in the Oratorio Don Bosco.

The Eagle drove in her new live to France, Switzerland and three times to Italy without any problems. Last year, after the meeting in Breganze, it made big fun to take part the first stage of the Milano-Taranto. About 600 km on small roads (17:00 Breganze - 00:30 Milano - back through the Mountains to Breganze till 10:30) during the night and in the morning was a great experience :-)
