Other then fixing my neighbors motorized fickle 2 wheel's for years - The 1st real Motor Cycle I rode for a summer was a 1966 BSA Lightning 650 Twin in 67 - After that, I was Addicted. Learned to tune a Neighbors 350 Single DESMO Ducati Scrambler - Which he could not do - I got more FUN outta of that bike then he did because it was always in my shop ;o)

To tune a Bike to it's Potential, and be paid for it, you have to ride better then the Owner can - HIC !.

One thing about winning a race is that you got to stay on your Bike !

The Husky he rode in that film was sold at Bonhams recently..

Holy Crap; I seen more then a dozen Huskey 2 Stroke 400's in my home town.

My Home town was unique !

I was trying to beat them 400cc 2 Stroke Huskey's with a Single 71 250 Bonny Scrambler 4 Stroke to NO avail ;o)

Granted that 400cc Huskey 2 Stroke would shrivel up and die before a Bonny 4 stroke 250/750cc Triumph Trophy after 10,000 miles.

Triumph Trophies are not with out a death wish !

Honestly, I can't say if any Breganzie can beat a 400 2 stroke Husky in short time - For example a Yamaha RD 450  - Things get COMPLICATED ?

I wish that pesky kid on the Triumph would fuck off.

Thank you Chrisk ;o)

Don't get me wrong, I profess 122+ mph down about any straight with a 70 Breganzie 750SF Twin closing in at near 8000rpm.

Bursts of 7800rpm with a Breganzie 750 pretty well does the job.

Do not expect to loose a long distant score with a 70 Breganzie 750 SF. They are an amazing Twin.

The 3Cly Breganzie Vs a Suzuki 4 Cyl 1100 Kantana - I would take the Kantana for speed and equal handling but LOVE the Breganzie for personal hands on experience as a Motorcyclists.

We can not beat the Japanese short term Bikes PERIOD - But in Long the term we still have our Breganzies !

A near 8000rpm 750 SOHC twin air cooled motorcycle engine is rare - Considered built in 1970 and mounted into a Cafe Frame - 1st for the public.

Watched this on You Tube all the way through for the first time recently. What struck me was that to become AMA champion the you had to compete on the half mile and mile dirt ovals as well as the road circuits,no wonder drifting the bike through the corners of a road circuit came so naturally to the like of Kenny Roberts and co.

It was similar for a lot of Ozzie road racers as well, as a lot did plenty of Flat Track. Our version of their Mile races. The first time your power slide a Dirtbike is a wondrous thing.

I was never a flat tracker, except for a 1963 Pontiac Acadian with a 327 in her and that did not last long - BANG - LOL.

I was always a long distant Motorcycle Road Racer primarily at night: Note my Head lamps.

YES! There are Camera's all over the place to day including COP Cars - AI knows who you are ;o(

Just one thing outta wack and your going to be stopped by authority, detained and searched. Hope you don't have a Beer or a Joint in your baggage.

Well we didn't find anything other then your sticker is out of date so your charged - "But Officer I got the sticker in my wallet and wanted to clean my plate before sticking it on" - Your still charged - What the  *&^% - We are Screwed - Pay a Lawyer or Pay the Fine - LOL

Got caught back in September by mobile camera for a 46 in a 40.Busy urban dualcarriageway ,keeping an eye on what was going on around me,didn`t see our two friends by the side of the road.
They allow 10% plus 1 mph over the limit which equals 45 mph and they summoned me for 46.
I thought stuff this and requested a court hearing instead of paying the automatic fine and getting three points on my licence.
The (only?) good thing about Covid is that there is a backlog at the magistrates court, with delays that may take upto the end of next year to catch up with (I hope).

I got hit with one of my few speeding fines for doing 10mph over in a 40. Listen to this: I was in 4 lanes and stopped behind a car making a left turn in front of me. A car doing well over the speed limit in the outer lane went past us and a Cop Car with a Radar detector picked me out as being the speeder - Shit I was STOPPED - Rather then fighting it, I paid the Fine - It was cheaper then hiring a Lawyer to fight it.

I was driving my 70 Z28 Camaro at the time so guess I just looked guilty ?

Today's cameras may have exonerated me of that crime - Prime example of racialism .

I was a cheap fine considering all the other times I had been speeding - Lessen to be learned ;o)

Thats right, when they study the photo at least they can tell who`s travelling the fastest.
Trouble with cameras is theres no give and take, with a police officer theres always a chance he might be lenient unless you`re doing something really stupid.
Back in `95 I was stopped by a BMW  bike patrolman after leaving a filling station on a quiet dual carriageway. He told me he clocked the Mirage twice, once at 98 point somethinhg mph and again at 102 something mph,but as he didn`t wish to see me banned he would only report me for the lower speed.Trouble was I already had 6 points on my licence so got a 6 month ban anyway!

My 70 Breganzie 750SF was Stealth to Radar but not Camera's - Anyone who saw my bike toke PIC's of her  ;o)

Can't say the 70 Breganzie 750SF isn't twitchy - You really have to be in shape when riding her hard and react fast with a lot of muscle to keep her inline when she falters; but, that can be said for just about all the bikes I've saddled.

that actual ex Steve McQueen Husky was transported by me from home (UK) to Italy and back in my van trailer, together with about eight other bikes for the IceQuake racing in Riva Val Dobia, it was protected overnight by a ?3.99 padlock on the roller shutter, back at home it was in my garage for about a fortnight, when it was later shipped up North by me, prior to sale, this time in a ?1000 ex post office red Ford Transit, no one thought it was worth that much, we assumed maybe 50K GBP or so, but not more, I have no idea what Jason the owner at that time insured it for, because he was told its totally his responsibility, it was great seeing him fit spike guards with jubilee clips, and thrashing it on ice, where he did quite well.
CLEM

Watching this film is a reminder of how different and simpler life was back then, and in road racing too.
At Daytona in 1970 for the 3 qualifiying laps Gene Romero`s Triumph Trident was fitted with skinny ribbed  front road tyres front and back and had the grease removed from the wheel bearings all in an effort to cut down rolling resistance, which paid off as he claimed pole with a fastest lap of 157.3 mph average.Imagine Moto GP riders of today contemplating such a thing.
Also under AMA rules at the time any competitor in a race could claim the winning machine for $2500,the idea being to keep riders and machines on a level competitive basis.
At the Ontario Spark Plug Classic in 1971 American racer Bob Bailey put in a claim for John Cooper`s winning BSA Rocket 3.However the mechanics kept a firm hold on the bike and the BSA/Triumph people had a word with Bailey and convinced him  that as the BSA contained many special parts and was most likely shagged out(Cooper had to rev it to over 10,000 rpm  across the finishing line in the second leg in order to stay in front of Kel Carruthers 350 Yamaha and take overall victory),he would be better off with one of the other ,not so special works triples, which he accepted.
Wonder if the same rule still applies and you could pick up a winning Moto GP bike for $2500?
