One for Lothar - Motoplas mess

Ha - thanks, that's very kind! ;-)

looks like a nice project bike but needs for sure a full restoration. Seller says he considers serious offers - what ever that means...
I would assume that a bike like that with papers (he says it has them) and full MOTed/TÜVed would sell here for somewhere between 12.000 and 15.000€. Now consider a complete engine rebuild, carb rebuild, new wiring, new tires, new paint, the transport and MOT, some missing parts, Brake restoration, new papers etc., which easily sum up to 10.000€ or more and you have what it would be worth in the current state, at least to me. I don't think he's gonna sell it below 5.000 though, but I might be wrong.

Not many really... if you sum up both frame variants that have been built around a Laverda engine, I think it's less than 20. I have seen one besides mine in the flesh in more than 32 years of Laverda ownership and know of 2 where they are. Found pics though of a total of maybe 8 or 10 of which I don't know if some might be the same bike just repainted. So - I doubled the number of pics of different bikes I found and assume the number to be close to reality. I once had contact to a guy that had contact to the former owner of Motoplast, but they couldn't tell, too, as they had no records anymore.

Motoplast certainly wasn't the best of chassis, those figures seem fair to me for other more special ones, but this world of classic motorcycles is a bit crazy.

I saw that bike a few months ago in a video, it was leaning against a wall, dirty, without the fairing... and you can see that they have cleaned the frame, it looked red and gray. It is a very expensive project, it should be a wholesale purchase a low price.

I haven't ridden one yet so I can not tell. A German Forum Member has one and says it handles beautifully, almost like a Zane. That said, he is a very experienced rider and mechanic and I don't know which wheels and other components he uses, which might make a BIG difference... (remember when I switched from standard Laverda-Wheels to the GSX-R wheels - wow - what a difference...).
I think it takes a lot of convincing and gentle negotiating to get the seller to a realistic price. Takes the right person with the right passion and desire for that bike, but with realistic calculations, and a bit of an openess to reality by the seller. and some time to develop that... ;-)
