Always regarded the 500s to be rather bulletproof.

Reckon some people manage to destroy just about anything.  Don't know how long the poor thing was thrashed before it finally gave up!  These sort of occurences don't happen from one minute to the next... complete big-end bearing is now metal dust.

The rods are actually one of the better features of the Zanes... quite a bit beefier than the 500 jobbies.
