Good Evening,

Apologies to folks who will have seen me posting looking for an Orange Jota 79-81 on the ILOC Forum, I thought I'd also post here as there may be folks who aren't on that.

I'm familiar with classic bikes but haven't owned or ridden a Laverda.

It's been on my to do list to own this iconic bike and ride it.

I've restored bikes before, I don't want to do it this time.

So Im looking for what Id decribe as the "right bike".

History and provenance are crucial to me, a properly looked after bike, with evidence it's been done by the right people. I'd like it aesthetically right and good plus, but its important to see that inside she's the same.

I've looked at, spoken to and reviewed all the bikes currently found on the market in the UK. No joy.

Only bike left to look at is the HnH Auction 29th October. Does anyone know anything about this bike.

Ive spoken to Ged and Mike DRC and Keith and have a couple of long term owners helping and guiding.

Any pointers of machines that might be available would be very gratefully received.

Ive searched and read threads about buying a Jota here and in ILOC.

Looking to become a long term custodian, I have no interest in buying and selling.

Cheers

Stuart

With older owners no longer able to ride them, and Gen Z uninterested in vintage bikes, prices are falling, so you,ll find a good deal somewhere. Good luck and keep us posted-
Prices are not falling, they've fallen.
But more importantly, the bikes coming on the market often haven't been ridden for a long time with all the ensuing problems even if the bike was fine when it was laid up.

Fallen or corrected? I agree with your observation.

I am indeed a fortunate chap. One evening I was lamenting the current prices (not value) of classic bikes in relation to my garage and my partner said..

"Well, you know what to do."

What, I replied.

"Buy some more" came the reply.

Yes indeed, my thoughts exactly.

Looks stunning on the outside.

Yes, that's right, I sold my JOTA about 8 years ago, my friend bought it, and they. It has been in my friend office and is still in perfect condition, it has not been out and about, it has a full history, and has always been in Denmark.

I just received the Laverda twins and triples bible by Ian Fallon who lists the years of triples to avoid which had issues w the cylinder head, and it,s also filled w other useful info.

Some probably were fixed years ago if they are actually ridden much. Makes sense. My advice that I wish I had heard first would be to buy a bike owned and well ridden by a Laverda Club member, any Laverda Club around the world, they usually want the best result for the bike. Typically, bikes move around through clubs and become well-known as reliable runners. There are exceptions, but it's rare.
