OZ Government issue bar ends.

(Perhaps some might be curious about the real thing?)
This little fella obliged by coming to the surface long enough for me to take a pic when I was up at Broken River a couple of weeks ago:-

Nice photo Peter. You're lucky to spot those critters in the wild. They tend to be a little shy and keep out of sight.

I don't reckon a coin is a very effective bar-end plug. To make it safe, you need to actually insert a tight plug in the bar rather than just put a flat lid over the hole. That'll get ripped off in a crash as soon as the bar end hits anything.

Bar ends are meant to prevent the handlebar taking a core sample from you aren't they? Dave?s one would leave a 20 cent deposit, wouldn't go far these days, especially with lots of places refusing to take cash.

I have been to Australia several times over a 30 year period. Every time I have gone looking for a platypus in the wild. Never succeeded. Great shot!

Closest I have ever gotten to a real platypus was at the zoo. Intriguing creatures.

I was fishing in the upper reaches of the Goulburn river, near Kevington Vic.
Wading through the water, I came across Mr&Mrs Platypus, they were swimming around having a fat old time together. They didn?t seem to mind me being in the water with them. Fascinating to watch.

 
We have Platypus in the river at the farm.
I have seen 5 in the swimming hole at one time.
Early morning is the best time to see them!
 
Heard loud splashes on Canoe trips, never seen one. Up until recently I also had never seen a Koala in the wild. I was up at Rocklay near Bathurst and I slowed as I saw a car pulled up. They were stopped shepherding a koala off the road
 
My favorite Bar End Mirror was the British Strantium from the 60's - They do NOT exist anymore.

What's really neat is that you can use a cement lead dead bolt costing cents from your local hardware store that will install bar end mirrors of your choice with little modification that will not vibrate loose.
