Pandemic Purchase Predicament

Maybe not an overriding concern during a time when life-threatening virus is on the loose, but you may wish to adjust your expectations as far as overseas purchases are concerned.  Shipping times can become very, very long.  I have personal experience with this in the context of US/Canada.  I am aware that other countries face the same situation.  That project you're working on may take far longer than you expected!
 
Don't worry. Long is better than not at all.
It has been a lot worse in the spring and will no doubt be again.

Vegetable gardens are great.

I am restoring an MV Agusta Monza at the moment and have been extensively held up by overseas purchases, the US included. I sent brake hoses to Holland for replication 3 weeks ago and they haven't even arrived let alone having been done and returned. Cheers

Yep, even when paying for next day or Saturday delivery doesn't guaranty on time arrival. FedEx and UPS refuse to refund expedited fees when they fail to deliver on time.

Shipped two packages 55  & 65 pounds from NJ to Tennessee last Thursday for Saturday delivery, the 55 pounder made it on time the 65 took till Tuesday.
 
Here - Montpellier, France -  the parcel service of La Poste seems to have abandoned doing home deliveries.  Just dumps your parcel off at the local pick-up point and tells you to go collect.

Will shortly be off to go pick- up the second one this week ...

I buy magnets from China - same supplier - normally arrive at the 2 week mark, now 3 months in and no delivery. I guess they must be stuck to the hull of a ship somewhere  :D
 
Shipping from Germany to all EU destinations seems to be normal delivery time again, but shipping to the States is 3x the price for a parcel at the moment and takes forever.

Melbourne Orstraylya. I've been buying local as much as poss lately. I also find they don't try to deliver - just dump it somewhere local! Stuff from Hong Kong seems to arrive very quickly in Oz. Grant sent me a parcel from the UK which arrived today - I guess about three weeks. Not bad in current circumstances.

Sent a package to brother Lee yesterday - let's see how long to go from here to Norway ....

Contacted a seller in Germany about three weeks ago for a little plastic wheel for the Skoda elec window. They aren't even shipping here.

The pandemic has caused big problems to mail packages abroad. DHL is about the only show in town that will mail parcels or packages from Germany to non-EU destinations. Right now packages to the States are a no go and parcels are somewhere around ? 54,00 :-X. Haven't tried FedEx because I have some negative history with them, and they ain't getting by business again.
I assume it's the same for OZ.

I ordered some Special MILUMIR masks through Walmart in mid April but they shipped from Singapore. Took 4 months to arrive today, July 30th. I eMailed MILUMIR a week ago and complained that I had not received their product. Upon further investigation, I found out that the problem DELAY was with Canada Post not processing shipments from East Asia ;o(

2 big issues: 1st Walmart not declaring the Masks were shipped from Singapore and 2nd Canada Post not declaring holding East Asian mail delivery in escargot - Although the product was instantly delivered by Air Mail.

I suggest if you order any item from East Asia (Especially PC Electronics) that you pay extra for Expedient Shipping as the receiving Countries Mail System will look at them first.

I have received shipments from UK, Nederlands,Germany and Italy ....... all to a little post office in the middle of British Columbia. The wheel shipped by DHL from Italy took 4 days, the discs from Holland a little over a week via Dutch Post and the shipment from UK about the same. The shipment from Germany took over a month.

I may drive to Nakusp soon and see if Wolfgang will throw some parts into the back of my truck.
