Pay attention at the back .......

Was looking through the pages of a popular UK bike magazine when I came across this from a reader over in Ontario , Canada ......

.......... Didn`t take much notice at first , then looked a bit closer , and realised the eight bikes lined up at the rear were Laverdas .......... along with ten Ducatis , two Moto Morinis , two Benellis , one I`m not sure about ........... and what could be ( or maybe not ) , a Yamaha FS1-E moped taking pride of place at the front .......

Personally , I think three bikes is one too many ....... but if I were pressed , I would go for what looks to be a SFC Electronica at top left background , and the Morini 3 1/2 Sport ....... and maybe one of the 3C`s as well .... maybe ........

If anyone wondered why Laverdas are such a rare sight in North America / Canada , then here`s your answer ......... :) .........

It's not an Electronica, it's an SF lookalike.
I imagine that the photo comes from a certain Steve Troupe who inundates Facebook with photos of his bikes.

You’re correct. I bought an 88 Paso in late ‘88,,,,an utter mechanical disaster. The only bike I’ve never regretted selling.
Seem to remember the mirrors being exceptionally good..unlike the screen. I’m pretty sure the early ones had a single carb, then they went injection..imagine yours was injected if it was trouble? I actually quite liked them and for a while they were ridiculously cheap.. I’m not sure they will ever make big numbers though. There’s also a 650 Alazurra in the photo, another one that will never be a classic!

All the 750 Paso bikes were equipped with a downdraft Weber 48mm carb, not a happy marriage. Constant stalling was the order of the day. The liquid cooled 906 used the same Weber but worked better, but the 907 became EFI.

Andy Evans managed to get a 750 Paso to the finishing line, I think twice, at the TT in the late 80’s, so it can’t have been that bad a bike.
And I know of a 650 Alazurra in the IOM, ridden by sprightly 80 year old, life-long motorcyclist, all year round, in all weathers, and it has proved to be an incredibly enduring and reliable set of wheels.
Photo taken at an Italian bike night at the MGP in 2021.

Got a 750 paso at work at the moment, nice to look at from a styling exercise point of view but it's been badly looked after and needs a full Resto. Customer thinks it's worth millions, but doesn't want to pay to fix it..I might offer him $50......

I'm not a fan of the Ducati Paso styling. It looks over-dressed to me, being all enclosed so you can't see any hint of engine. Unfortunately, they look even worse naked. It really needs that bodywork to hide the hideous frame made from RHS tube.
As for it being worth millions, I doubt it. They never reached the desirability status of many other Ducati models. I reckon around $10k would be in the ballpark for a really nice one. Probably a lot less if it's scruffy or poorly maintained.

Quite liked the Paso styling ....... Only can recall seeing one on the road .... a 906 version , at a National Rally control point in Mid Wales ........

Massimo Tamburini drew it , and named it after his friend Renzo Pasolini , killed in that massive pile up at Monza which also claimed the life of Jarno Saarinen .........

Tamburini`s best known work is the Ducati 916 , which of course everyone loves .... .........
