Personal EPIRB devices

You guys are scaring me. I have to go out and hang my washing on the clothes line little while. I'd better take an EPIRB, mobile phone, wear a hard hat and hi-vis vest. I'll also let someone know where I'm going and give an ETA for my return. ;)

I have a couple of EPIRBs on my boat. One in the boat and the other packed with the life raft. A couple of years after I bought them, they changed the operating frequency from 121.5 MHz to 406 MHz, pretty much rendering them worthless, so I had to replace them.

We still use 121.5 for emergency broadcasting and SAR chitchat but the satellites only track the 406 MHz signal.

Just ordered the Ocean Signal PLB1 from Bias Boating, $357 including postage. Fran asked about the warranty. If it doesn't work when I go to use it, I won't be here to ask for a refund🙄
