Can anyone suggest good pod filters that will fit the 1978 1000?

I'm curious about the tie rod from carb rack to cam box. is that to stop frothing or stop carb rack moving?
Regards, Andre

Paddy said:Personally i would go for as large a foam or paper filter as you can fit I wouldn't bother with oiled filters unless you are in an environment that means you need to wash them out very regularly which i doubt on a Lav unless you are off road in the desertThe fact is you will draw a fine film of oil into your carbs airways with oiled filters. Paper will probably flow best but is not always practical, Foam will give a straight inlet track usually . horses for courses.

You don?t need to have visual dust in the air to need good filters.
Here in Norway you don?t often see dust in the air but everything seems to be covered in dust and filth very quickly. Apparently it is pulverised asphalt as the bitumen mix here is special to cope with big extremes of temperature, it is probably so in many parts of the world. So good filtration is vital. I go for oiled foam. On the SF I have removed the back of the airbox and have big unifilters fitted to the rubber connectors to the carbs, they fit ok forward of the battery. When I used K&N I had problems with the slides sticking in wet weather.
One of the main victims of poor filtration is the carbs, particularly Dell slides.
If anyone fits foam pods, stay clear of the ones with metal end caps, they can get sucked flat to the carb inlet.
