when my wife Andrea died six years ago, I (of course) had to learn to use the washing machine, but I never lost a single sock, a few years ago my son and his lady moved in whilst their own home was uninhabitable, and Sonia started to take charge of the washing machine, in five and a half years I lost about ten single socks, They have now finished renovating their home and moved in, that was about three months ago, and I am back at the helm of the Bosch xyz3000 washing machine, and so far haven't lost a single sock.
What does this prove?
