I have an SF0.. very nice bike...a certain 'go to' Laverda man replaced the existing two simplex chains with a good quality duplex..he says that this is stronger & quieter than new oem triplex...I have not heard this one before....
Any comments ? Foppling Flutter

Hi, nowt wrong with the duplex as far as it's the so called Mercedes 'big pin' cam chain.

Steve has put together a brilliant summary on this:

Only reason not to switch to the duplex would be, if the bike has run very long on the two simplex. As this set-up leaves the middle row unused, there could be different levels of wear. If your triple chain sprockets all look the same, it'd no issues to use a duplex set-up. Important is, to use the 'big pin' IWIS G67HP version (3/8" x 1/4") as “bush” type chain. The difference is the bigger pin diameter (4.41 vs 3.31 mm) – which is important for the primary drive, as the “bush” type chain is capable for higher loads.

The best thing that can be done to a Laverda primary.
Stronger and quieter than a triplex and immensely quieter than two single row chains.

With all respect to Jo and his comments on wear on the primary gears.
A Laverda that has been run a long time, there are a few around, a Laverda that will be run a long time, there aren't any left.
