Question about idle

Absolutely no use trying to synch carbs with worn linkages, simply a waste of time.  Be better to open a cold one and sit in the sun.   :D

thanks Piet.  i'm more than happy to accept ya advice !
,  & did ya hear that boss ??  i'll be off to the beer garden !    :D

cheers,  Mark

Xavier,

as Piet said, without knowing what age and condition the carbs are in, it is hard to tell why there is a difference.

Have you checked the float settings btw.? Many issues do come from unequal/wrong float settings...

But it is also quite normal that without choke applied, the revs are drastically lower in cold than without choke when the bike is warm. That is what the choke compensates at the end. But I assume you mean it runs lower in cold WITH choke than in warm without choke, right? If so - how much choke do you apply? Most bikes do not need full choke and depending on the engine/settings etc., it might be to much or to less what you apply, so - hard to tell...

No no!  Those are the balance pipes for air. To be honest, I have never noticed a difference between triples where they are fitted and triples where they are blanked off.

However, it is essential that they are either on or blanked off... If open to the air, you will never get an idle!

On arriving in Spain a couple of years ago on the Jota and trying to disembark ferry, bloody bike decided it would not idle or rev properly...mucho embarrasment .After a few minutes, found split and disconnected balance pipe.Small thing, big effect! Now carry some neat rubber caps in toolkit so if it happens again will yank the lot off and put them on to get going! Guess the rubber takes some heat over time and gets brittle, so another thing to keep an eye on.

Ok everyone, and thank you for a lot for your indications

The bodies of the carbs are ok and I changed a few thousand miles back, the throttle valve and all joints. The needles were ok for what I saw. The interconnect throttle openers are ok and maintained regularly with WD40

I'll follow your advice this weekend. In a first time, drive a few miles and then repeating set : check the height of the floats, check chokes, mixture screw adjustment and the synchronization

Have a good time

Xavier

Salut tous

I've checked my carburator and adjustements this week, plus a ride after ...

The difference of the idle is better. Only 200 rpm of difference now

Thanks for your suggestions

Bonne journ?e ? tous
