Quickshifter?

Have any of you TT racers installed a quickshifter to Laverda? On Ignitech there is an input for clutch master, so it would only need a suitable sensor. Then depending if the circuit is grounded or not the ignition would be paused for a preset time. What else? How would the gearbox cope? Not that I'm ever going to install one, but I'm curious about the principle. Obviously on road driving there would be embarrassing moments, like in traffic lights trying to shift gear up and the engine would stop?

The majority of the quickshifter systems are relatively simple and operate by interrupting the ignition for a very brief moment. When used on modern bikes they work great. The trick is you need to adjust the interrupt correctly with the "turn-off" time as short as possible so the gearbox is unloaded but doesn't stay unloaded too long. It makes for a nice balancing act. A couple examples are theTellert system which uses two sensors for the on and off functions while the HRC set-up uses a pressure sensor. There are others but these are the industry standards. All well and good when used together with slick shifting new parts. However on our old dinosaurs this might be a disaster waiting for a place to happen. Long lever throw and slop in the linkages can lead to too many variables throwing the adjustment of the shifter out of whack. Trying to upshift under load with the adjustment off can lead to excessive wear on the gear wheels themselves and if it all goes bad then a new gearbox will be on your next X-Mas list.

You'd want to sit the micro swtch inside the r/h cover, if its a 180 triggered by the internal selector mechanism for a good job.  I've changed up on the track 4th an 5th clutchless but Im not sure I'd want to do it in the lower gears.
You might get away with a properly set up system or you might end up putting in new Mainshafts and 4th gears but unless you're drag racing I doubt you'll see any benefit... as no where else is anyone going to notice the 2/10th's second you saved.
