Rear drum offset

I'll be having the wheels of my burnt 3C rewired in the coming weeks and will probably use a spare hub and rim for the rear so the wheel builder won't have anything to go by.
Am I right in thinking that the rear drum is central to the rim or is there an offset?

Mmmmm i rebuilt my 3c rear drum and it required an offset, as my dim recall may recall, had it written down. See if i can find it and diagram. May have been my Suzuki GT750 rear drum that could be what i recall.... though i recall different asymetrical swing arms for the two variants disk and drum units, the swing arm ends ( tangs ) slots are different. j

It's peace easy to check, Paul. Place an even width spacer on the outer bearing and run a straight edge across beyond the rim edges and measure to the rim (measure at east and west rim edges to confirm level), flip the wheel and do the same to the other side. if it's 'balanced' (ie no offset) these measurements will be the same. if not, tell the wheelbuilder what the difference is.
