Rear sets

Hello chums, I've got a pair of Tarozzi rear sets on the Jarama and to stop my boot from slipping off the right hand footrest (gear change) I got a mate to mill the outside edge in a sort of wave pattern. Because the footrest moves with every gear change I am now wearing holes in the instep of the boot. Now I could get him to mill the waves off but that leaves nothing to stop my boot slipping off. So, the question is can I get just one footrest, or, and I can't see why it can't be done, is it possible to change the set up so that the the footrest does not move with gear changes? All suggestions and humorous asides gratefully received  :) Stuart

I use the RH gear lever from a factory Jota set and made my own alloy plates for a twin. I hate metal footrests, so I machine steel bar and fit a bolt into a thread from the inside, then stick a genuine Laverda peg rubber on it - a very slight downshift in bling factor, but doesn't look bulky or daggy (like Triumph rubbers!) and is really comfy - and grips!! My two-bob's worth.

The footrest should not move when you change gear, if I have understood you correctly.
Wolfgang can sell parts for the rearsets individually.

Grant, the rear sets are from Wolfgang, Tarozzi's and both foot rests move with the gear/brake lever. I seem to recall a similar query a while back about the same problem. As far as I can see they are designed to move. Stuart

Correct, the after market Tarozzi's are meant to move with the lever, is a stupid set up.
I modify them to accept a bronze bush set up so they work like the factory original set up, not a difficult modification to do

Red, can you give me an idea of your modification please, I can get my mate to do the machining. As long as you don't have any patents on it of course!. If I don't reply straight off it's because I'm on nights at the moment and will soon be heading off to bed. :) Stuart

I also drilled out std Laverda rubber footrests and banged them over the metal pegs. But first I would be doing Reds mod.

Standard Tarrozi set up is not all that stupid, will certainly take a lot longer to get all rattly and loose like the original Laverda bush, also like the rather neat vernier adjustability of the actuating levers.

The Tarrozi set on my Laverda do move, the one on the Morini don't. These can also fold up and also have rubber on them.
So there are different qualities from Tarrozi.

Yep, the Tarozzi's I had on the Guzzi did not move when shifting but were a shit design for the Goose with way too many connectors. Swapped them out for a set of Ago's which were designed for the job.

& i would suggest that the sole of the boot would rotate through the same arc as the gear lever and footpeg ??
so why does this wear the instep of the boot ??    :-\
guessing i'll find out soon enough when the SF2 gets on the road with the new Tarozzi rear-sets.
me biggest whinge is the drilling alignment of the inner & outer alloy plates to fit into the frame triangle. somebody was not paying attention when that process was done.  or,, their drilling jig is crap?

today, i reckon i got SeFFie's wiring all sorted after days (ok, weeks!) of dithering about.  woohoo, where's da rum!
cheers,  Mark

<edit>  i would also debate that the wear, on the instep of the boot, is caused by the transverse slippage issue you have mentioned?

however, i will concede i have been proven wrong on at least one occasion.  i think it was way back in the last century?  ;)

Mark, probably not helped by my having the outer ends of the rests machined to give more grip to my boot and to stop it sliding off the peg. Just thinking that if the footrest stays put it might help the problem. Have to see.  Stuart.

How about putting the foot rests in a lathe and turning a series of slots to fit o-rings.
I to don't like metal foot pegs, on the Motodd I have the original rear sets fitted, but the later ones that came with the rubber jobbies. Only thing that pisses me off is that the rubber turns on the metal peg. Was thinking about drilling a hole through the lot and inserting a pin to hold them in position.
Anyone else have the same problem? and any better idea to stop them rotating on the peg?

Rob, certainly an idea I would consider. Just waiting for Wolfgang to let me know if he sells individual parts for the rear sets.  Stuart

I do have the same problem, although it doesn't disturb me too much - I just rotate the rubber back when I get off the bike. This way they will wear out the whole diameter evenly and last decades  :D
However my plan is the same - drill a small hole right through the rubber and metal footpeg near the end (but not at the root as this will weaken it at the wrong place) and insert a roll pin. It would take a trained eye to spot it, especially if drilled horizontally.
