Rebuilding Twin Starter Clutch

Need some help IDing a part. I found a small Pin or Roller when I had a starter Clutch apart.
It is a small Cylinder 11mm long, 4mm diameter and it is magnetic; either on purpose or accidentally became magnetized.
I did not see where this part came from and cannot see where it might properly belong in the Starter Clutch.
Any ideas???

From a distant memory I think the pin fits in a hole formed by two half-moon cutouts, one in the outer and one in the inner parts of the starter clutch body ... locks the inner part the outer part during operation to prevent the inner spinning away and doing nothing..

The locating pin in 750s is a square one, not round.

It could be the pin that locates the outer planetary gear in the starter reduction housing. Also 4mm if I'm not mistaken.

it could be the pin from deep within which locates the gear selector shaft, the item which carries the selector forks, it is trapped and hidden by a bearing.

I have seen one engine where this item was not re-installed, it was a triple and a drummer no 1026, which had many other crankcase defects and took a year to bring back, and by that I mean just the crankcases.twas done in order to preserve the matching numbers.

Good call - I haven't been inside one of mine for yonks. Piet could be right - I think CK left it out of the sfck and found a free spinning starter!

thank you everyone, Sorry I didn't make it clear I am working on a 750 twin. What I see in my Starter Clutch is a square key that locks the Inner and Outer halves together along with the press fit of the Inner into the Outer. I chilled the Inner and heated the Outer in the hopes of an easier refitting still had to press them together.
I cannot see any place, slot or hole for this pin. and this pin just appeared while I was disassembling the Starter Clutch. I don't think it came form another part or project as I try to keep the workbench clean. One task at a time, well I try to.
