Replacing original brake m/c with square Brembo

😳 A motobrakeopoly?

Makes me wonder if Kawasaki have in interest in Nissin brakes. They seem to use them exclusively on their modern models.
Probably because Yamaha have a large manufacturing/assembly facility in Italy, which was originally established to detour import restrictions. Locally made/assembled bikes would still need to include a certain percentage of locally produced parts to avoid certain taxes, so why not outright buy the mob that makes those parts for you? I think Brembo was at the time already part of the Kelsey-Hayes corporation. True capitalistic wheelin'-dealin'!

The Yamaha ownership pretty well coincides with the appearance of Brembo equipment on works MotoGP and WSB Yamahas. Italian-made Yamahas can be easily spotted by their CEV lighting equipment. ;)

Seems there's only a couple of big players on the japanese market supplying the Big 4, of which Nissin seems to have established itself as the leader, much like Brembo amoungst the european manufacturers. I don't see much Tokico equipment on new bikes anymore.

Ah! This I did not know ... 'Live and Learn'.
Ta, Piet.
The entire motor industry is criss-crossed with connections and interests, it's quite astounding Craig. Hardly any company belongs to itself any more, lots of others have their greedy claws on profits and dividends.

Market rivals are quite often connected in some way or other behind the scenes. For example, Suzuki and Kawasaki co-operated for quite a while building big trailies, partly following the time-honoured brit badge-engineering tradition.

I bought and fitted a new square PS15 MC to my RGS, in conjunction with the P08 Goldlines. It made a world of difference - much improved 'feel' and better overall braking performance too, without being overbraked and further increasing the stresses on frame and forks, etc.

I also bought and fitted the square PS13 clutch MC, which again was a vast improvement.

Careful fitment has allowed the handlebar pad to be retained too.

I have had great success in the past using clutch and brake master cylinders from 80's Triumph's, they are made by Nissin, but come cheap as the fluid lid is embossed "Triumph", much better braking and hugely lighter clutch, but now moved onto bigger discs, 4 pot calipers and Ex Ducati master cylinders (both) its the best of the lot and no one has a lighter clutch than I do on TOG, as in late japanese light.
CLEM

ps I have some 4 pots, (one pair bare and a single unit complete) Triumph masters, and PO5's plus an odd square brembo, which will be on ebay shortly as now surplus

Finally fitted a 15mm coffin m/c to the Jota. What a transformation! A lot more feel - just what I was after. Thanks for all the replies.
Nick :-)
