I started restoring a 500 Alpino for my daughter. Before sending the frame painting, I would remove the axis of the center stand
What seems very simple principle, is ... impossible  :o
Why does he not want to go out when the screws are removed??

Thank you

Bertrand

Bertrand have a look at the two mounting lugs for the stand on the frame. There are two screws which clamp the rod in place and it's a safe guess you've already removed these. In theory you should be able to simply (!) push the rod through. In the real world the things rust to the frame and can be a PITA to remove. If penetrating oil and heat doesn't work you'll have to bore it out.

I had exactly the same problem.
I couldn't knock the shaft out to remove the stand from the frame, so I cut the ends of the shaft off. It seems a bit drastic but I didn't want to damage the frame lugs for the stand and I kinda had a suspicion that the shaft wasn't going to come out of the stand easily.
I heated the stand up and used a large pin punch to try and shift it - but - no way was it ever going  to move. I've had soaking in penetrating oil for weeks and it still hasn't moved.
It will have to be bored out.............
