Do the 500 and 1000 rev counters have the same gearing?

Yes.
3:1 for both the Smiths and ND clocks. Pretty unique. The reason why Honda/Kawasaki/etc clocks don't work on Lavs. The Veglia Competizione supplied with the 500 Formula was 5:1 and necessitated a special worm gear at the end of the inlet cam.

Thanks Piet, It looks like a 500 rev counter I have been given in bits and I just wanted to check before I bother assembling the casing and glass. It works anyway according to my electric drill.
Is formula 500 not 4:1?
