RGS-based custom

Yesterday evening I enjoyed a ride to a local annual vehicle gathering, known as 'The Noggin, Nosh and Natter'
It's a massive event, very informal and it certainly attracts a very eclectic mix of bikes, cars and trucks (and owners!)
Coincidentally I parked up next to this RGS-based custom that I know belongs to (and was built by) Stephen Anstis from Frome.
The motor is eight numbers away from my own RGS. Frame has been heavily modified, with single-sided swinger and belt drive from a BMW F800. Lots of neat additions too.
The style is subjective, but I do admire the engineering.
I didn't meet up with Stephen this time, so didn't have a chance to hear it running either.

I quite like it, but then I think specials should be a bit crazy and just for fun. Being formed from those 3am 'oh yeah, why not' ideas.

Indeed it is - however, a conversion based on say a VMax would've caused me less pain. In short: surely a lot of engineering effort - but unfortunately in a direction that I personally don't like at all ...

At least the front wheel isn’t going to clout the middle pipe, unless it ploughs head on into a bus at 120kph.

Good on them, but I fear they’ve been reading too many street fighter magazines.

look where the shit, stones, mud, leaves and rain (heaven forbid) is going to go from the rear wheel, built for show, not for go, as an art form? brilliant job, huge engineering skills needed, but as a practical sport bike, uh oh, (that was a Paul Marx impersonation) I dont think so!

With all the attention to the mechanical detail, I don't understand why the frame and body work are left unpainted. Frame looks like its on the verge of rusting.

It's probably a 'dry build' to see that it works - and allowing for further modifications - before stripping and painting.

I saw it in its very early stages when I acquired the original RGS bodywork from Stephen. It’s good to see a running bike but as others have commented, style wise, not entirely my cup of tea, but I do like some of the engineering that has gone into the project.

Yikes! That's one out-there special. As others have said, not my cup o tea, but not our call. There must be a tensioner system for the rear drive belt that we can't see in the pics.
