Can this be right?  My centrestand seems to be adjusted correctly, but I've just been stripping off the front end of the bike and the weight (even without the front wheel) is biased towards the front end, so much so that a 25kg bag of soil on the back of the bike wasn't enough to balance it and stop the whole lot rolling forward off the stand.  Fortunately I realised this was going to happen before I completely removed the front axle. :o

OK, it's easy to chock up the frame at the front with a bit of wood once the centre pipe is moved out of the way so the whole lot doesn't collapse, but what the hell do you do if you need to remove the front wheel away from the workshop?  It would be even worse with the tank on and full of fuel.

PS  My head bearings are very notchy and the forks don't appear to have any rebound damping whatsoever, and yet it still handled pretty damn well.

Reggie,

Unfortunately, the factory didn't get the 120 centre stand to work as well as the 180.... always carry your handy folding wooden chock with you in case the front wheel needs to be removed.  But then, you've got enough rocks lying by the roadside in the highlands, makes things a bit easier! :D

While you're at it, remember to check the frame for cracks.

Guess I'll have to bungee a sheep on the back if
I get a flat...

Thinking about it, and taking into account the weight of the fuel in the tank it had better be a case of Sheep...

Or you could just rip out a tree to prop the bike up. Throwing logs of wood around is a national sport in Scotland.
(Is that caber in your sporran or are you just pleased to see me?)

As an Englishman I would never get involved in such oafish past times  :D
