I am looking for recommendations to have my clocks refurbished. The tacho is not working and the perspex cover is cracked.

I am still working on the wiring to check it is definitely the tacho not the signal, but will have to wait until after the carbs are back on for a full check.

Alternatively can you get the perspex covers.

Located in the UK.

Thanks

There are still new dashes out there; try Wolfgang Haerter, OCT, and Laverdaparadies.

I tried to repair my cluster and cure the tach needle wave, including installing a new input chip that damps the movement better. I also bought a frequency generator to calibrate the tach, and when calibrated for 3K RPM, it was off by 1,500 at 7,000, etc. Hopeless, and apparently how they are.

Instead I built a new dash based on Speedhut gauges while the stock cluster rests. GPS speedo and stepper motor tach, dead-accurate.

Looks good worth considering - I wonder if I could just find a replacement tacho to build into the old housing.

A new set of clocks is looking expensive.

You would happen to have the Perspex cover or the fault clocks you would be willing to sell and I could try and cannibalise.

Many years ago I had the same revcounter problems. Visiting a car breakers yard I found some ( pic ) from Fiat - Lancia cars that is the same as the ones used on the RGS, so fitted one to my RGS which worked excellent. As pic shows I have several and can send you one. I tested them at that time so should be ok.

What model Lancia and Fiat cars used the same ones as the RGS?
I did not write it down, and this was approx 20 years ago so.. In this forum at the same time it was mentioned that rev counters from these cars would work on the RGS. So I searced this breakers yard and found these pictured. I do not want any payment for one, only shipping cost.

That's a good find and very useful information. I have sent you a PM

It was an Autobianchi, do some searching in the forum there have been various discussions on it.
TBH in Australia and many other markets, the Autobianchi nutters would be more likely to be seeking the comparatively plentiful supply of Laverda instruments rather than the other way around, but in some countries they may be plentiful.

I bought a NOS set of instruments from Wolfgang for my Corsa and am very pleased with them, they were cheaper than getting an expert to do anything with my old ones. May or may not still be available and/or as reasonably priced.

The same revcounters in use on Fiat, Lancia and as you say on Autobianchi. The one in use on my RGS was from a Fiat I think, and most of the pictured ones comes from Fiats.
I gave up trying to find a new RGSrevcounter from a Laverda dealer at the time, there was a few set of instruments for sale at Orange cycle team only.

Yeah, not a great option if you only have one issue you're trying to solve. Mine were in generally poor shape all over, issues with all four movements, badly-repainted faded dials, scratched face plastic etc so the entire new set was a great upgrade and quite cost effective.
