tensioned the rubber mounts to 37 lb (they were way tighter) before a ride and no difference in vibes-is this correct tension? my nuts are still numb a day after riding 650 kms (its actually kinda pleasant)

Vibes won't go away through tightening the mounts, they need to be done up tight, no matter what.  They are not pre-tensioned in any way, the vibration isolation is through the rubber inserts, not their mounts.

Check the carb synch, especially the play in the individual linkage shafts.

Depending on your ignition system, check timing on ALL cylinders, a pick-up may have the polarity reversed and will thus fire way off from where it should.  If that is the case, you should have experienced other, more severe damage by now!

Check all rubber mounts, when one goes soft it can influence the others to the degree that they get pummelled and one after the other is pulverised.

If all is well, you may have the same problem as I do..... I'm tipping on an out of phase crank!

frame to bush mounts are good and tight-i meant the rubber bush nuts-manual says 33-37 ft/lb-they were at least 60 lb-the rubber bushes seem to be in good condition

cheers paul

Paul,

The bushes have steel sleeves in their centres, these are done up tight to the mounts proper, just use the specified torque settings.  If the vibes prevail, you've got a problem, see previous post.  The 120s should be almost turbine-smooth, from just over idle to the very top of the rev range.  Big vibes spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e!
